Prasad had an association with various companies, started his career as management trainee with Kirloskar Electric Co Ltd in 1986 and associated with Otis Elevator Company (India) Limited and managed Finance, IT and HR functions at Bangalore factory. Later moved to L&T Group in 2005 and handled various functions at L&T-Valdel Engineering Limited, L&T-MHPS Turbine Generators Ltd and as Chief Financial Officer at L&T Power IC.
